- Adrie kept repeating "Are they running? They're running mom? They're running? Those people are running?" for the first 5 minutes. It's annoying to me, I know it was annoying to the pack around us.
- Have you ever pushed a jogging stroller? They don't turn - at ALL. Perfect for straight runs, a nightmare for the 50% of the run that took place on curved roads and zig-zagged sidewalks.
- When handling curvy stretches, push down on the handle to hoist up the front wheel, gaining maneuverability. Which isn't too bad, until you've got a 30-pound child who hoists her weight forward in resistance, yelling "Put me DOWN! Put me down right NOW!" the whole time she's up. Which happened at least 50 times on this run.
- Fielding 2 year-old questions while you're trying to maintain a good pace is about the most annoying thing in the world a) because she repeats them over and over and over and over and over and over and over even when you've already answered, and b) the small patience I naturally posess is severely thin when huffing and puffing.
All in all, I finished in 31:36 - not too shabby to average 10 minute miles for a first 5k, my first street run in at least 4 years, and with an irritating 2 year old.
But I'm running by myself next time :)

I know what you mean about the jogging stroller. Angie had hers when we did our 5K and it wouldn't turn! It sounds like Adrie was quite the talker on her first 5K.
I possess very little patience also.
And I hate running.
Cheers!
Alaina, I just got your message about the jogging stroller. Sorry, I was also out of town...with Jessie, and just got back last night. Sounds like you found one though. Yes, jogging strollers are annoying when the road just isn't straight!
Wow, that's a really good time! Especially doing it with a stroller and hyper-curious child! :) Good for you!
I can hear Adrie shouting "Put me down!" That's funny. I ran with a jogging stroller ONCE. Never again. My friend has a triple jogging stroller she runs with. CRAZY! That really is a great time, especially considering your many, many obstacles! Good job!
wow! good job! maybe you actually ran faster because you just wanted the whining to end.
my jogging stroller shakes violently when you try to run. a lot of good a 'jogging' stroller is when you can't use it on a jog, huh?
Way to go!!! I think that is quite an accomplishment!
Just wait until you add a few more question askers in to the mix...Kimber and Sam ride bikes and I push Alli...they all have things to ask. BUT I dont' like going out by myself, probably b/c I don't have an excuse to stop every once and awhile! :) I've found that bringing paper and a pen will occupy Alli for awhile, books as well. Not for the whole time obviously, but for awhile. I also have her look for things (birds, ducks, blue cars, a flag, etc) then her comments are more like "there's one" instead of 4 sentence long questions.
Whoa there speed racer! Congrats!!!
Way to go! So are you going for a 10K next?
Congrats - that really is a great time for your first 5K, especially since you were pushing a stroller! Have you caught the racing bug now? I love excitement of running in a race.
