It's the End of the World as We Know It

Note - thank you to Raquel Allen for her beautiful photography.

Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. Isn't the Plan amazing? That we complement each other and yet help each other to grow so beautifully (or in not-so-pretty terms, we rub each other the wrong way so often).

w8

I think marriage is supposed to be hard, and you are expected to come up against hard times and struggles that knock off each other's hard edges. I believe that marriage and family are the best training ground for becoming more charitable, more compassionate, and more God-like.

w3

That being said, there are a select few circumstances in life that warrant a parting of ways. We have come to that point, despite longstanding efforts to figure out another path. This has been a monumental decision we have not treated lightly, particularly because of our beautiful Adrienne Sage.

w1

If such a thing exists, this has been 'the perfect divorce'. We have peaceably made every decision possible to continue the best parenting and quality of life for our daughter.

w2

Thank you to all for your love and support.

That actually made me cry. And I'm at work! I love you, and Adrie is lucky to have such a mature and selfless Mom.

Alaina, I think you're very brave posting about this is such a straightforward way -- not because there's anything wrong with posting about it, but because I would probably be too afraid of what "everyone else" was going to think/say to do it myself. I appreciate the things you said, and just want to say that you've got my support as a friend (albeit at a distance) always. :)

Beautiful pictures! We sure love you guys a lot and hope everything continues to run smoothly for all three of you. What are your plans now? Are you going to stay in Utah? We are thinking and praying for you. We love keeping in touch through the blogs, keep it up!

Love,
Brittney and family

GREAT pictures! AND, its not the end of the world, just the end of things the way they once were. You're SO strong and I truly admire all you do!

I read this post two different times today, and I cried both times! I admire you so much and am so glad things have gone smoothly. You both will always be just what Adrie needs. The pictures, by the way, are gorgeous!

Add me to the list of those who cried at your post. We mourn this change in the life of the three of you and want you to know we're here to help however we can.

I'm probably one of the MANY people who've read this post and aren't quite sure WHAT to say--and I've even been in the loop!

Alaina, you are a gorgeous person both inside and out, and it's apparent to everyone (EVERY. ONE.) that you are logical, ratonal, and react to situations with the guidance of the Spirit. You inspire all of us!

My prayers are with all three of you!

Of course you're strong, Alaina -- you're one of the original Heidis! ;) (Sorry, I know I already commented, but I couldn't resist!)

I cry every time I read this...and yet, sharing is touching the lives of others. By speaking out you are helping others appreciate what they have, give hope or encouragement to some in similar circumstances, or help them understand they are not alone. Maybe you'll encourage them to take action in a positive way. We love you...you did and are doing all you can. We are here to help whenever you need us. Let the spirit be your guide.

Wow! Alaina, that was brave of you to write that but it was beautifully put! We hope everything continues to run smoothly! You are in our prayers!

p.s. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ticket to ride!
p.p.s. You would be so proud of my decorating. You told me to choose one room and to focus on that and it works! :) You are so smart! I still have a long way to go but baby steps right? :)

So I haven't checked in with you for a while and was very surprised and bummed out to hear your news.

Although I don't know your circumstances. I know you. You always try to do what is right. I can't begin to imagine what you have been going through, but I know that you will make the best of this difficult situation.

I admire your outlook and the humor you put to this post. I'm sure it wasn't easy. You're in my prayers and I know you'll be just fine.... (because you're awesome & everyone loves you, not just because of my prayers, that sounded weird).

You have a beautiful family. I love all the pictures. Your totally right...marriage is hard and because of that it makes up stronger together. If life or marriage was easy how do we learn and grow together.
Anyways...you have a great family.
