Has Jody really not read any of these books? C'mon, Jody! You like Harry Potter and THE WHEEL OF TIME for heaven's sake! Give these a chance -- they're fun.
The first time around Jacob just drove me crazy, but I liked him a lot better during my second reads.
Does that mean Natalie has read them? I thought you were resisting, Nat! I was too at first, but I've ended up thinking they're a lot of fun (albeit cheesy).
If only I had known what this post was about, I never would have commented! ;)
I was hoping maybe it was about a boy that Alaina went on a date with last weekend or something. :)
Alexa, everything I've heard about this series says its mindless drivel and terrible writing (albeit entertaining, apparently). Doesn't sound too tempting to me. Just because I like fantasy doesn't mean I'll read anything. At least with J.K. Rowling or Robert Jordan I know I'm getting good (and often excellent) writing.
I didn't mean to imply you would read anything, Jody! Sorry if it sounded that way. :) I've just read all those books (well, not all of Jordan's books, as the lengthy descriptions of what Egwene was wearing all the time turned out to be too much for me after the first seven), and I was just trying to say I don't think Meyer's books are all that off-par in terms of composition, etc.
Oh, and I just have to throw in there that despite evidence to the contrary (yes, I had a Twilight party and my daughter is named Rosalie), I'm not a particular fan of the Twilight books over others. :)
OK, I'll stop hijacking your post now, Alaina. Sorry.
Oh come on, I love a good discussion. Hijack away.
Life is busy, stressful, and all too mind-taxing as it is. Sometimes (a LOT of the time) I NEED a simply written book full of entertainment. I don't read it to challenge my mind or better my life - I read for vacation.
How funny...you caused quite a stir with your 10-word post. I am reading the third book and I'm undecided. Maybe you have to finish the books to be able to make an accurate decision?
I agree-I think these books are cheesy, but entertaining.
Woa..if there is a delay when you click "post comment"- just wait. Don't press it two more times. Sorry about my triple comment (I deleted the duplicates).
Oh Jody, just you wait. I held off a long time - hating anything that reeks of 'bandwagon' - but they were great. Good, fun, life relief. It'll give you something to look forward to :)
I think the 3rd book talked me into Jacob. Best kiss ever. But now I've started book One again and am falling for Edward... I haven't read #4 yet - we'll see!
You know people said (still say) the same kind of stuff about Harry Potter, my dear.
Are you the one that never saw the Star Wars movies? Maybe we should all jump on your case about that for a while. The force of social pressure shall prevail!

Oooo, how cryptic! I have no idea what it means, but it sounds interesting. :)
Are we talking Twilight? Because I have a little thing for Jacob too!

sigh. if you have to be on any team for those books, i'm glad it's any team but edward's.

I don't think I can talk to you anymore.
But have you seen Jacob for the movies. He. Is. HOT.

No offense to any twilight obsessers out there.

I think I need to read them again to say for sure. I went back and forth a lot. Jacob was just a little to childish for me at times.
I'm definitely on Edward's side - always have been! Hope you enjoy the book!
I think Jody's avoiding me now.
No, not avoiding. :)
Since I haven't actually read the books, I don't feel like I can really make an unbiased argument, you know?
I actually thought of starting a facebook group called "If 10,000 people join this group, Jody will finally give in and read the Twilight books".
But, I'm afraid I would actually end up having to read them! :)

Oh, boy, you're in for it, Alaina! I can't wait to see what you make of Breaking Dawn!
Yeah, I really don't think so... unless someone pays me. If I need a good easy "life relief" for a read, I'll pick up some classic juvi fiction.
Chronicles of Narnia, perhaps? Gulliver's travels, maybe? To Kill a Mockingbird? Anyone? Anyone?

I don't know who you're thinking of, but I have definitely seen star wars. Several times.
Social pressure, huh? Bring it on! I'll never conform! Never! :)
